Mark Perry is formerly incarcerated. He recently retired as an alternative high school teacher and principal. He earned his BA in Criminal Justice at Northeastern Illinois University and his M.Ed. and PhD. in Education at the University of Illinois Chicago. He is a sponsor of the Black Prisoners Caucus (BPC) at the Monroe Correctional Complex (MCC). He is the outside facilitator for monthly educator meetings with the BPC currently held at the Twin Rivers Unit of MCC. Dr. Perry is the author of “Walking the Color Line: The Art and Practice of Antiracist Teaching” published by Teachers College Press. He is also the founder of the Seattle Teachers Residency.
